In the videos about starting young horses Monty uses a training saddle with a bucking strap type modification. Can these saddles be purchased like this and if not is anyone able to please tell me where these modifications can be done?

Hi Anton,
These saddles are basicly race-saddles, with additional straps. The staps are sewn over the full length and width of the saddle by a saddler. Some people buy used racesaddles and have them changed as described above. These saddles are very light, have no fixed tree etc.
If you plan to have a saddle like this, please make sure all sewing is intact and the stirrup-leathers are not fixed, so they would come off in case a rider falls and doesn't get his foot out of the stirrup. I know Monty has his saddler make all these useful tools for him, but we can improvise to get as close as possible. Keep safety in mind all the time!

Here is where you can purchase one exactly like the one Monty uses
Thank you Vicci!
That is a great source of knowledge and good to know where to buy, too.
Keep the good work going,
Miriam
