The Ttouch??

Hello! 100 lessons completed 150 lessons completed 200 lessons completed 250 lessons completed 300 lessons completed

Has anyone else out there heard of Linda Templeton Jones that does the Templeton TTouch.
I have been concerned with Star's behaviour this past while and did some research.
I am a RMT with humans but have never studied massage with equines.
I found her and watched her videos.
I went out this morning and started with Star's nostrils, the inside. At first she was a bit weary but then started to enjoy it. I did the inside of her mouth as well, to get her chewing, it worked.
When you massage the inside of the nostrils it helps them to activate their learning center.
I then worked with her nose and then along her cresent all the way to the bottom.
I worked on her front shoulders and along her sides.
What a difference. Her head was almost touching the ground and she was bringing her head right into my chest.
I rubbed over her eyes and ears.
It was great, she was so relaxed and chewing away.
I will gradually work towards her hind quarters, until I can rub her forhead and under her tail at the same time.
When one can do this they know the horse completely trusts them.
I remember how great my clients use to tell me how they felt when I was done.
Star could not say what she was feeling but her body showed the difference and the deep breaths she was taking, WOW!
Has anyone heard of her or tried this method on their horse?
Let me know, OK,
Ronda

I used to hear a lot about the Tellington TTouch up until a couple of years ago. Nice to see it is still around. Lately it's been more quiet, but maybe that was because it was news and new books etc.
Definitely something worth exploring there! :)
.
I've done "the leopard" a lot on my horses, which they seem to enjoy, but I don't remember more than that of it.
I never had any of her books, but I believe I learned a bit from an in-depth article in a British Horse magazine.

Hello!

when ive tried doing T-touch on my horse, she usually relaxes a lot but as soon as i stop she goes right back to normal putting her ears back and stomping her foot. also i cant do it on her nose. when i got her she wouldnt let anyone touch her nose, but now she lets me run my hands over it but not touch her nostrils. my riding instructor thinks someone used a twitch on her or something. the lady we bought her from said it was just she thought you were going to worm her and the wormer tastes foul. my poor little girl :(.

Catijane,
With ttouch or any massage method, only start with the parts of the body they enjoy.
This brings them pleasure and relaxes them and you.
When the head comes down and they lean into you, you will know that you have reached your horse.
STOP THERE.
The next day do the same and add a little bit more, same results, STOP THERE.
Most of all praise her, talk gentely to her.
Gradually work towards her unpleasant spots one day at a time.
I am doing this with my high strung filly and it has changed her so much.
I just do the massage not the training methods, I like Monty's way.
Hope this helps,
Ronda

I have used TTouch on most horses that come to me with problems. I have the book Understand and influence your horse's personality by Linda. Before I start any work I full profile of the horse and then I chose witch ttough is best for the horse. NOT all horses like the same thing at the same time. However by using her methods I have learned to understand a horse and their learning abilitys.

On the Massage part of ttouch I find that if you do a relaxing massage first then witch ever ttouch massage after the horse responds much better.

Hello,
I've got a few books by Linda - she has some very interesting concepts on working with all sorts of animals. I've found her ear work and the tail work to be very effective, and she has some great groundwork and leading exercises. She has ideas about reading horse personality by analysing their face - not sure what scientific evidence there is but it makes fascinating reading!
Definitely worth a look, in fact I think I'll get my books out and have another read!
Gillian :)

Hello!

i've tried analysing my horse's personality by her facial features and swirls. it is a strange concept but it is quite accurate. just from stuff that i found on the internet, i've learnt that Alli's features suggest that she is trainable, very intelligent, opinionated, has the ability to learn quickly, sometimes mischievious, curious, stubborn and dominant.
All of these things are very true of my mare! luckily she has enough good moods in between all the bad ones to give me hope that she does like me deep down. i suppose it just helps me not to take a horses affection for granted! I reckon i just about live for the occasions that she bumps me gently with her nose, nuzzles me or sniffs me. it is certainly much nicer than her usual put-the-ears-back-and-stamp-feet routine!

Yes, she is interesting. I purchased her book some years ago "Getting In Touch with Horses" published by Kenilworth Press and have enjoyed it. Should re-read it! I still look at swirls on horses and think of her meaning for them.

Hello!

yeah. the swirls thing is a bit 'different' but still fairly accurate surprisingly. I'm planning to get her book about horse's personalities and how to get the best from your horse. can't remember what it is called but it sounds really good :).
