Hello wonderful people .
I haven't had success in getting Shilo over to Sjælland at the moment, ( to a trainer to those who don't know- see my other posts ) I'm afraid that the money just can't stretch that far right now, so I'm getting back to basics with my shining star Shilo.
It's just so nice to be in the paddock with my horses without the added stress of a bad trainer.
I had to laugh the other day, I was brushing Shilo and he likes to be brushed on his behind, so I did this and then went a few steps away over to my brush bag, so came Shilo after me and walked passed me, turned his bottom towards me like he always do when he wants a bum scratch, then he stick one of his back legs out, so I ask him" Shilo, shall I brush your leg" and I did. Then I stopped and walked away again, to see what he would do.... Yes you guessed it, he walked , turned and stick his leg out again... That's what I call communications!!!
Then I went to his front legs which he didn't stick out, I brushed one leg and he gently moved it away from me as if to say " no thanks"
It's just such a great feeling when something happens like that., I know it's small silly things but I think it's nice he can tell me what he wants.
Best wishes to you all.
From Dionne and Shilo.
Great to hear Dionne, it's not silly at all, those tiny moments of communication are so valuable :-)
I agree with vicci, those little things are the proof there a channel opened there between you two. I'm happy for you !
Hi Dionne,
This is what you call TRUST!
Great to read your relationship with Shilo is gaining....
Keep the good work going,
Miriam
Well, after What happened With that awful trainer I'm very very happy that Shilo still shows that he trusts me. It's a big big comfort.
I hope that everyone else out there is having some wonderful times too with their horses and ponies.
Hello Dionne, it`s so good to hear from you and Shilo. These small moments in time, that we really connect with our horses, are treasures from a another world.[THE HORSE WORLD].. They are blessings that are given to those who can really SEE AND FEEL and probably wouldn`t be noticed just anyone. You have been given a green light; proceed with confidence.

.Your friend, Bud
Thanks Bud. Just a question , do you think that I should go back to ' training to ride' myself again? It was going so well before the upset with the trainer, and as I can't afford Mia right now I was thinking of starting over ?
Any thoughts on that Bud , and anybody else of course.
Thanks
Dionne
Hi Dionne; yes, yes to your question. I believe that YOU see the world differently now and Shilo is a different horse from the one that you encountered a few weeks ago. You will probably find yourself thinking much more in-depth and settled in your thoughts about him as you plan your next time together.
.
.I see that your questions were dated 6-2-16. ` Sorry for the delay, but my computer had to go to the hospital for a few days.
.
.I would approach your training with a little different format. DANCING TO MUSIC Get you your ground work exercises to another level and then choreograph them to routine with some music that you enjoy with the appropriate rhythm. My horses love this and our connection goes to a different level. This will produce many smiles for both and will give you something to fall back on should encounter a moment of question as you move toward a confident riding relationship.
.
.Trainers can approach horses with confidence because they have been through the ups and downs and have surfaced, hopefully, on the successful side of a learned break-through for the horse. The horse is looking to you for confidence and that all-important CONNECTION that is born between the two of you when success covers itself over both of you as a plan comes together. However, horses come down a different line in their thinking process than humans and that`s our quest in life when we bring them into our world. We find ourselves on an uphill journey of learning, but if we stay the course there will be areas of a level playing field where the CONNECTION AND UNDERSTANDING lives.
.
.All the best, your friend Bud
