repeating join up?

My horse is good for awhile after doing join up but then seems to regress over a couple of weeks, especially if the weather is bad and he is not worked with much. I feel like I need to repeat the join up over and over, just to keep his respect. But Monty says you should only have to do join up four or so times. As if the lesson should "stick" forever. What is going on? My horse is a retired race horse and I have heard they are stoics. Maybe he is just not too impressed by anything.

Hi,
maybe your problem is that you're not restoring him enough respect. Sometimes it helps to let a friend make a video while you are working with the horse. Than you can have a look at your own body language.
