Polo pony behaviour

hi i have recently bought a horse that used to be used to play polo. he is great at the walk and trot but as soon as he canters he lifts his head and favours the outside (i guess to avoid the Polo mallet), what is the best way to correct this please??
He is gentle and good mannered on the ground but when i lead him he will try and tuck in behind me, ( i will follow Monty's lessons on good floor manners to correct this)
