I have just ordered one of his books, he seems to have a kind positve outlook on horse training. very natural way of working with the horse instead of forcing them into submission, similar principles to Monty's.
Slightly off topic, but on the subject of renown trainers who work with principles similar to Monty Roberts', I would like to mention Belgian (Olympic) rider and trainer Albert Voorn.
Watched him at a clinic just this past week (in Sweden) and it's almost like Monty Roberts was there, giving a lesson in show jumping.
.
Back on subject! Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling is German, but holds clinics in both Denmark and Sweden, as well as lots of other places. Haven't had the fortune to see him in person, but he is warmly recommended by people that has.

Why would you want to try something else. I'll tell you my story. I tried the Parelli way for 3 months, scared my horse to death, shaking all those ropes, circus tricks, etc.
For two years now I have been traing my horse Monty's way and she is very kind, respectful and a willing partner.
My three year old mare is great, was as wild as could be when I bought her, had never been touched.
I was raised around all kinds of horses and they worked hard for us, they were trained the old cowboy way, very cruel, scared to disobey, poor things.
So yes there other methods out there but Monty's way really works.
Thank you "Horse addict" for the communication. It is always interesting to get to know other trainers. I had the impression that it is quite dangerous what he is doing with the stallions in the videos "Kicki" mentioned.
I just watched the videos Kicki listed and he looks to me like a traditional-type trainer.
.
What really sets Monty Roberts apart is that he establishes communication with the horse on the horse's terms and works from there. Its a big shift to make from the traditional methods to the methods used by Monty Roberts because his concepts are so different.
.
We can learn something from everyone, but I am a Monty fan first and foremost :-)
.
Kind regards,
.

I think I agree with Gen and arberservices more. Yes, I do think that Monty has the best techniques above all the other trainers I've observed. I just saw this guy and I wanted everyone's opinion about him.
Hi Horse Addict
.
Its great to watch other people. One of the other trainers I really like is Stacy Westfall. Her methods are mostly traditional but she is not rough (well, not that I've seen) and her ground work exercises are very practical; without being rough.
.
Our rescue horse Renacer is the first horse I have ever started and I did it Monty Roberts style according to the knowledge I had at the time. I also adapted and used some of Stacy Westfall's ground work exercises which worked very well.
.
However at the end of the day, I want to be like Monty Roberts.
.
Have you or anyone else heard of Stacy Westfall? If so, what do you think of her?
.
See you later,
.

Stacie is one of the best trainers/riders around

Not many people can train to that level
Cheers
Hi Dennis
Yes, she is quite amazing :-) I have all of her DVDs and I love her ground work exercises. It would be great to be able to train and ride like she does. I am working towards riding without a bridle with my rescue horse. It takes a lot of time :-)
Kind regards,
Gen
Hi Genn! No, I don't think I have heard of her.
Hey Gen, Yeah, I saw here performing on Youtube last year. She's very talented.
She would be the only non-Monty Roberts trainer I can think of that really inspires me :-)
Very interesting discussion. I would like to add Michael Geitner. His type of training bases on Monty's principles. He has modified (you could say stolen the idea) the Dually Halter in a way that seems not very practical for me. Anyway, he has added the idea of the "dual activation". He uses yellow and blue elements to stimulate the horses (the two halves of the brain). I am using them as well and find them very useful to add a variation in the training. Unfortunately all the information is in German. I am adding a link where you can see that the horses have the tendency to lower the head spontaneously passing the elements.

Hi Rudi, I just watched the clip and it was very interesting. My husband is of German heritage, so I will have to get him to translate for me :-)
