Equus for People

Hello! 100 lessons completed 150 lessons completed 200 lessons completed 250 lessons completed

I am a Christian counselor and have been counseling humans for about 20 years. I have always been interested in Monty's training (sorry, gentling) techniques and the parallels with Christian values and human behavior. I am developing counseling techniques to use with clients struggling with their life problems; addiction, marriage, etc. If anyone knows of someone doing the same thing, I would be interested in making contact.

Hi, you'll like Monty's book Horse Sense for People and perhaps have a look at the Monty's Join-Up for Veterans site. Both will be very helpful to what you are trying to set up.

I use the principles of Join up to help ones who come to me for horse therapy.

iHello, There are so many similarities between counseling techniques for human behavior and life`s presentation of problems and the horse training techniques that are used in Monty`s approach to training horses. The terms of incremental steps and ritualistic habituation are two that come to mind. These two terms are part of the backbone of LEARNING for both humans and horses. `Very interesting topic for conversation and learning.

Hello, I am a retired educator and a Christian. I am new to the horse world, however, there are SO many parallels with teaching, training, disciplining, reinforcing, etc. with children and adults. Before working in the public schools, we should first learn what the horses are teaching us. Then we can have a relationship with troubled children and use what we've learned through our horses to help mold them into amazing adults. Best wishes on you endeavor.
