Equine eyesight

Hello! 100 lessons completed 150 lessons completed 200 lessons completed 250 lessons completed 300 lessons completed

Something you might find interesting is a lady called Cheryl Sutor.
She is a natural horseperson who knows so much about horses.
She has a site on the internet about Equine eyesight and how it affects their responses to things.
In my research I came accross her and reading her articles has helped me so much to understand WHY Star reacts the way she does.
She has a lot of credentials.
Hope you find this as informative as I have.

Hey there,
I swear this family is a target or what.
Yesterday afternoon I received a hysterical phone call from my eldest granddaughter telling me to go to their home because her father had cut his leg with a chainsaw.
I drop everything, forget to lock the door and started on foot to their place.
A car was turning in our driveway and I flagged them down, asked for a drive to my daughters, two farms down and everyone piles on top of each other and say sure, there are still a lot of nice people out there, eh.
My husband, my daughter, were both at work, my grandson was still on a field trip with the army and there was only my 10 year old granddaughter there.
What a kid, only ten, does not panic, knows to call the ambulance, then her mother, and get a towel for her father to apply pressure until I arrive, wow.
I get there, he's on the floor, in the kitchen and I kneel down and start applying pressure to the wound, and held that position for over 30 minutes.
The gash was deep and there were bleeders.
My daughter and eldest granddaughter get home and they are both crying and I tell them Ok start doing.....
I had Angie remove his boot and sock so I could see the color of his foot and nails and then I have her pinch his large toenail so I could tell if the circulation is still good.
Also, checking for tempature and pulse.
When the first group arrived they wanted me to continue, I have more training than they.
They cut his pants off while I'm still applying pressure and then very quickly I lifted my hands and they applied a saline patch and a new towel.
I'm still applying pressure and the ambulance arrive and transfer him to one of the hospitals.
Hours later, after many updates the house was so clean, within an inch of it's life, work keeps everyone busy and there minds occupied, the kids didn't mind, they know clean-freak grandma.
My husband goes to the hospital to pick them both up late and brings them home.
The surgeon froze and jabbed around the wound before stiching the gash inside and out and then applied a half-cast, so he cannot move it at all.
He came within 1/4 of an inch of the main artery, the pressure and Tianna's quick thinking save that boys life.
The reason I'm telling you guys all of this is: safety first, OK, always!!!!
He ALWAYS wears his saftey equipment including his cutting pants and that day he didn't.
So no matter what, always be safe and take no chances, OK.

Yikes! Definitely an experience you don't want to have!
Thank God you and your granddaughter knew what to do. I'm glad everything worked out to a happy end.
.
Oh, yes! Safety must always come first!

Hi Ronda,

Pffffttt.... what an experience......
I am glad that you and your granddaugther did a good job. You see, I told you you are a super "nurse".
My husband is a landscape gardener and he always tell people to be carefull even if it is a small/quicke job, wear your safetycloth!!!
It is so important to be safe on the spot.
Hope your son in law will recover from this accident soon.
