Hi all,
I know there must be a thread about books to read, but I couldn't find it, so here's what I'd like to suggest to read:
ZEN MIND/ ZEN HORSE by Allen J. Hamilton, MD (brainsurgeon and horsetrainer)
with two forewords, one by Monty Roberts and one by Dr.Robert M.Miller.
What strikes me most is the very clear describtion of how human- and horsebrains differ, explaining how speach and other functions of our left brain-hemisphere are unknown by horses, and how we humans can get in touch with our own silent right hemisphere. This is where horses live and where we can pick them up....
Nothing esoteric about it, very down to earth and so much to learn!

Hi Miriam; I also love this book - its on my coffee table right now for a second read. The emphasis on maintaining that calm, consistent and steady approach to the horse is a common thread through that book and consistent with Monty's videos and teachings. Leanne
Hi Leanne and all,
A horsefriend just sent me a notice today, that there is a documentary on DVD made after this book featuring Dr Hamilton, Monty Roberts and others.
Watch the trailer at http://www.playwithmagic.com
ofcourse it's "speech" and not speach...hihi
Enjoy,
Miriam
