Biting Horse and ears touching problem

Hello! 100 lessons completed 150 lessons completed 200 lessons completed 250 lessons completed

Hello,

I want to ask if we can fix this horse?

I the school that I am getting my riding training in, we have a dangerous horse which I believe he needs some backup training or Psychological treatment.

I believe this stallion he is a poor and as I heard form people that he used to be abused and treated with violence from his previous owner. "he used to hit him on his head"

this horse is attacking everyone in the school and even I have been attacked by him when I was passing by his stall so he get his head up and bit my arm from back, he keeps biting horses people, through them from his back during the classes it's hard to control him, even they need 2 or 3 men to put his bridle.

I feel sorry for this beautiful horse but he is predator and everyone heats him and he got hard punishment whenever he does something bad.

Please note that he has issue with his ears no one can touch them and its difficult to rub him because he can bit you hardly anytime.

I wish if we can fix this horse for his good.

so can you advise and provide some help?

Thank You..

Hi. I'm going to applaud you for caring about this horse, especially as he has bitten you. Nevertheless, I don't think he is a project for us to help you with - unless I'm mistaken I think you have limited experience & this stallion should only be handled by people with many years of using Monty's methods. It would be dangerous for anyone who wasn't totally fluid in their communications to attempt to retrain this horse & if you were seriously injured by him it would be the horse that was blamed! Study the lessons, complete Monty's Challenge after each one to get your accreditations & get a copy of 'From My Hands to Yours'. Then practice on horses without great issues & when you've got a full toolkit of skills you can help more challenging behaviours. Monty says there are bold horse trainers & old horse trainers but there are no old, bold horse trainers. Enthusiasm is a fantastic asset but it should be tempered with well informed good sense. Perhaps if you introduced the owner to the Uni they might feel it worthwhile to contact one of Montys instructors & you would have indirectly helped this horse. Good luck. Cheers, Jo.

Hi,

Yes actually I don't have any experience but I would like to my trainers and to school owner.

I am trying to transfer this knowledge and introduce them this great university, but what I want to know if there is a hope to fix this kind of horses.

thank you for your reply..

Actually what I am doing in this stage I compare the lessons I am getting here with what's going on in the school.

thanks and hope to make this world better place for horses.

Hi. What a wonderful aim - to introduce others to Monty's methods. Yes, the stallion can be helped but it'll be a long road & will require quite a level of expertise. Realistically, as an entire he will never become an 'ideal family horse' but I would be confident that he could be significantly improved from the level you described. You'll have great fun learning from the Uni & sharing the information with your friends. Don't get disheartened if older people, especially those who have dealt with horses in a more traditional way, dismiss your ideas - I had exactly that from someone, actually younger than me, just this week. Keep posting. Cheers. Jo.

Hello!

Gelding him is a great first step. He should not be worked by any amateurs.

You can geld a horse at any time, but the older they are, the more likely that the stallion behavior will remain longer, so the sooner the better. And definitely safer!
.
Once the drop of hormone levels kick in, it will almost always have a positive effect as the horse usually will feel a lot better mentally when an unmet need (urge) to mate isn't driving him up the walls.
.
Some horses can cope great with this, and that is fine, but I am a strong advocate for the rule that if you aren't breeding him, don't keep him an entire!
You are NOT doing the horse any service, no matter what some men might tell you! (LOL! Just kidding - sort of!) ;)
