I have been contributing quite a bit to forum lately as we have had rain which has kept me indoors and I have now watched all the videos a few times. Perhaps I contribute too much so I would be grateful if someone would let me know if that is the case. Sometimes I worry as it seems to be my comment that finishes the discussion and I again wonder why. I am also worried that my comments may annoy other students and drive them away. I am hoping that I am just an insecure, worry wart but if not please let me know. Where have some of the other students who used to contribute regularly gone? For example where are you Dennis? We valued your contribution so much. Rudi's too and many others. Maybe it is just because these people have now watched all the 170 videos a few times and have exited the Uni. I can appreciate this as I am somewhat regretting joining up for this second year. It is all very ordinary this year so far while my first year was so full and so exciting.

I have noticed this too. No, Maggie, you are not contributing too much, in my opinion.I, for one, value your comments. It seems like people are getting bored or something. Or maybe the weather got nice so everyone is out working and playing with their horses. Which I will be doing as soon as I get over this horrible cold. It does seem lkie there are far fewer posts than there used to be and I was wondering why myself.
Hi all
.
You have summed up how I have been feeling lately in a nutshell Maggie. I have been trying to rein myself back for the same reasons you state. I hope I am not a nuisance. But have felt that way at times.
.
Maggie, I really appreciate your posts :-) I also appreciate hearing from everyone else as well.
.
See you later,
.
Gen
Great to have both you comments so thanks heaps for that. I do hope others come on board again soon too as forum suffers without their contributions. Hopefully it is just the improved weather that is keeping them busy outdoors with their horses.
Hi guys!
I too have noticed an absence of quite a few of the regular contributors :-(
I also reined back on commenting for the same reasons! Ha it's a bit funny really!
I think the uni needs some lesons with a bit of meat to sink our teeth into. Some more technical interesting stuff would be great! Hopefully it's on it's way :-)
Maggie and Gen please keep commenting...they are greatly appreciated and well recieved :-)
Hopefully we see some more action on here in the near future, as maggie said the forum suffers without it.
Janelle
Hi all!
There has been some tension on the forum, it made me step back a little, although I still follow all threads. I can imagine more people thinking: "I'm not going to go into a confrontation about the subject that interests me most!"
It should be fun and remain so....
Are there less students this year anyway?
Remember that there are lessons to come on subjects that were suggested by this forum.
Next we can expect the scientifical trial, so there will be enough to learn.
Re-viewing videos is most rewarding too.
Please don't feel insecure about contributions, let's feel free to add what we have to offer!
Keep the good work going,
Miriam
Hey! Christy here. I have felt a little like I write a lot but what is a forum for anyway? And it is so interesting to read other people´s thoughts on this wonderful subject we all share. I haven´t been on the forum lately because of my poor internet conexion. I used to have what I call the "prehistoric" kind so as I live in the country I had to get myself a netbook and a fast conexion for my days in the city, which is when i could log into the Uni. At homw there was no way I could watch the videos, short as they are. But that is over!!!!! I finally got modern! I have this invention: the Router and i can now watch Monty´s videos from home.... and also read and write at the Forum.
The latest is that Willow knows I have been having a toothache.... My work with her goes very slowly. It is only me and her. Therefore she is not as well-mannered as I would like her to be.... Fortunately she has the sweetest character so I just have to mind my own feet. But it is true that a horse can sense you as well or better than any psichologist. So these days that my wisdom tooth is giving me a bad time she is gentler than ever. And will gently sniff at my right cheek (the one in question). She is usually boisterous when I turn her out and have to restrain her so she doesn´t pass my shoulder. These days she follows me and doesn´t pull. isn´t that amazing??? I know dogs sense when you are unwell. They come and lay their head on your lap for comfort. Discovering your horse is a great gift.
let´s keep sharing our experiences!
Christy
I am fairly new to the Uni and am still learning so much. I value all of the posts from the more experienced students and love getting opinions. Please keep posting!!
!
Christy - Ouch! That is not fun having a wisdom tooth that is playing up. All the best with it. I am pleased Willow knows to be kind at this time. Oops looks like I deleted this message above as I posted it!! Thanks everyone else for all the contributions.
Thanks, MaggieF. Imagine getting my wisdom at 57!!!! Yes, I am lucky that Willow is such a gentle young mare. But the rascal knows I am much better and took her sweet time trotting back to her stable, today.... Oh, my! there is so much I have to do with her..... Wish me luck!
And keep posting.
Dear MaggieF. Thanks of thinking of me. I am just busy working, will come back.
Rudi
Thanks. That is great Rudi - along as you are still around!! I drop out too sometimes for quite awhile when things get too hectic.
Hey everyone I love reading your comments. I haven't been contributing too much lately because of personal reasons (sickness) but I sure enjoy your "LONG" comments Maggie, not long!!!
They are very well explained and easy to understand.
I love the videos and can watch them a hundred times and still learn something new.
In our emails from ask Monty, this morning he said in an interview that he believes he has the best method but if something new came along he would adopt that.
I'll think of something for a subject for us to discuss. Everyone get your thinking caps on.
You all have a great day,
Ronda
Hi all!
Please keep contributing! I am a bit slack sometimes with contributing to the discussions, sometimes I get halfway through reading them and look at my watch and think, holy moly I need to get back to work!
But I still love the uni, the lessons, the forum and will continue my subscription for all the above, plus the ability to be around like minded people, even if only via letters on a keyboard!
Thanks everyone!
Ruth
I'm still around too! No chance you'll get rid of me! ;) ;)
but I've changed my work, though, so very little time these days for the Internet.
I don't have much to contribute with anyway, but I love soaking up what the rest of you have to say.
Dear All! First of all I will forward your request on new exciting things on the UNI - isn´t it just fab you all have seen the videos over and over again - that is dedication to the cause!
Many of us instructors also have forums for our "own students" in different countries, so it just might be that different student go in on different forums ones in a while - I bet we all have both jobs and horses and enjoy every second of others comments, thoughts and feelings about our lovely horses anyway.
I myself have 16 new INTRO students coming up on the UNI and it is very exciting!
I encurage you to keep posting interesting thoughts and work you have with your horses. There will always be new coming in!
Be patient - Montys all CI´s just spent a week at FIU and we are very excited about the future!
Warmest Ann Lindberg/Sweden
MaggieF, aren't you in Australia? Here in my part of the world Idaho in the US spring has sprung. I my neighbors and kids and horse people are soaking up the sun and doing our spring cleanup chores. I am at the age when I work that hard I am to wrecked to even make a phone call. They will return.
Here in Colorado its the same. I just spent the morning picking up brush and rolling up barbwire. Fun, not, but needs doing. Spent some time with the horses, too, brushing and just hanging out watching them. Wonderful animals. Now back to housework, BORING, rather do horse stuff. Gotta get the brush hauled off so the bears wont have any place to hang out later. Even though they dont bother the horses, since they would rather eat the russian olives, I still dont want them hanging around.
Hello All,
Following up on Ann's (Swedish Instructor) post, we have just returned from a fantastic week at Flag is Up Farm in California with Monty.
2012 is going to be a huge year for Monty and his global organisation. The science trials are literally on the verge of being published, and trust me, it will have been worth the wait. Monty is going to be involved in the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and after his visit to Brazil last year, he is making a huge difference to the way horses are being started in South America.
There will be exciting news about taking Monty's message of non-violence into the future and reaching more people than ever before. And of course there will be lots more uni lessons, so keep your suggestions coming and stay tuned.
Kindest regards
Lynn Mitchell/Australia
Hi All, I've only been part of the uni for a few days now and am REALLY enjoying reading all the comments and answers. My only problem is, is there not a way to TAG the comments that interest you or that you want to follow? I've posted to a few threads and now, unless I write everyone of them down, I have to search because I don't know whether someone has commented or not. I know that on the dashboard it lists the threads that have had current postings made, but what if I don't get on for a few days? Does this mean I'm stuck scrolling endlessly to find the posts? (I would MUCH rather spend my time watching MORE of the videos and reading into other comments that I have not yet had the privilege of reading!) I've also asked this question in a couple of other threads, but, am not sure whether anyone has answered or not.......If there is not "notification" option, I do believe that that should become available :) THANKS!!!!!!!
Hi corbengra, and welcome to the Uni!
As far as I know, there is no way to tag threads or comments, but I agree that it would be great if it was possible.
That said, there is a search engine you can use at the right hand corner of the green top bar.
OH!!! THAT HELPED SOOO MUCH!!!! Thanks! I just typed my own name in, and anything that I had responded to, popped up!!!!! I still think there should be some way of tagging things :)
Lets start with I am here to get a better understanding of Monty's Methods.....
Thanks to the instructors that took time from their busy schedule to tell us what is going on and why they are busy.
.....Since someone asked I will tell you all how I feel......
..I enjoy going through the forum and reading all the new threads with there posts as long as they stay on topic. The Thread are separated for a reason. There are plenty of place to have Chit Chat Threads. Chit Chat is Fun in the correct place.....
I to have much to do most days. I mostly Hop on here when I am exhausted from my chores or need some horse problem solving. Since my horse has many Health Issues to over come Training has been few and far between this winter.
......I do post when maybe I can jog someones thought process with a known experience I have had. .....
I have stayed away from the forum on my last few visits. The reason being there is way to many Threads with mention of trying some other Trainers method. Even Worse Whining about other Trainers Methods. I am here because I want to learn Monty's Methods. The way I look at it, You do not go into the local grocery store and tell every one there to use the neighbors store with the better floor plan. If there is a Private Message system available here that would be where off campus suggestions should go.
......
I must say I enjoyed the resources offered to me by members that referenced Books on Mineral Needs and some Very Good Generic YouTube videos on operating gates on horseback.
Note even Monty uses other trainers and their methods and introduces other trainers to us when he considers they have something worth contributing to his and his students learning. Monty emphasises that learning is an on going process and he is still willing to learn from other trainers too so why shouldn't we?
I aqree totally, Maggie. Nobody ever knows everything, and can always learn. Its an ongoing process.
MaggieF & phantommustang1 Yes we can all learn from others, whether we agree with them or not.
I have enjoyed all of Monty's Guest Trainers. Note also that these Guest Trainers have Embraced Monty's Methods or at least are open minded & willing to learn more about them.
The forum discussions that are in poor taste are people endorsing Trainers that go against Monty's Teaching. Some discussions are almost like a commercial to jump ship and join the other group of trainers.
Kicki, that search thing only seems to pickup a "few" of the posts I made. Is there a suggestion forum that we can post on about the site? I messaged the support looking for answers, and have not heard back (that was a week ago :( )
Something that works for me is I think of a subject I would like more information on and I type that in.
Example: Saddles.
When I did that very many posts came up with all the treads pertaining to that subject.
Maybe this helps???
Have a good day,
Ronda
I was more or less trying to keep track of specific posts that either I have responded to or want to watch for further responses. I've taken to just writing them down, not as convenient as being able to tag/watch them. Thanks though!
Carbengra you can just type in your name in the search engine for this too.
Yes, that's what I did, but for some reason it only lists a few of the posts that I have posted in. ty!
newbie here, not only on the forum, but also with our first pony. Good to see a community even though we're all in different parts of the world.
When I found out about Monty, I just knew that was the way forward for us. your comments wether short or long are great :D
Welcome to the Uni and forum, mhetfield. Great to have you and your first pony with us.
Yes Welcome! I myself have only been a member for a short time and find myself becoming addicted to it!!!! :)
Hi Maggie & Corbengra :D Sorry should have signed off with a name :D it is totally addictive being on here, so much to learn and some great teachers around. Shame we can't post pictures at different stages, or can we and I've missed it, knowing me the latter. lol
Not sure where you guys are, but I'm in the UK and only recently found out about Monty just before buying BamBam, love the natural approach with the horse in mind withount the use of whips or harshness that is around horses too much. All things happen for a reason and knowing now that there is a different approach to the norm, I'm 100% there for the horses with no violence :D
Look forward to joining in more.
night for now
Mel

Hi Mel, I'm in Ontario Canada & I too have just recently joined Monty's Uni. I've been interested in his methods for years, just never had my OWN horse to practice on. I've tried to show my daughter a few things with her ponies, but she is not interested, she just wants to get on and RIDE! :) I read a book and a browsed through a few of Monty's books, then came across the Day Pass for here, and really liked it! So, once all our snow was gone.. :) I JOINED right away! I too think it would be nice to have pictures on here (I commented in another thread it would be nice for students to have the choice to make a public profile for others to look at)
