What is parelli?

Hello! 100 lessons completed 150 lessons completed 200 lessons completed

Hi all,
I heard someone talking about parelli the other day and I remember watching a YouTube vid about them and Pat parelli had seemed to be very rough with the horse that head was trying to get over its head shyness? I remember also seeing a video where a young girl had helped a horse become more rideable and tame by using 'parelli' methods (but on the clips of her and the horse she was doing join up). Does parelli use the same methods as Monty and why is it that Pat parelli is so rough and harsh with horses?
Thanks,
Abi

Hello!

That is just his way sometimes. He does a lot of "good" things and has a lot good practices and methods. It is just that he is not adverse to resorting to extremely harsh methods whenever he feels it is called for, in his opinion. From my perspective and it is just my opinion, and I'm no "greenhorn", not by a long shot, but it seems, (I could be wrong), but is seems to me that he appears to be intimidated by horses that are particularly aggressive or very strong willed/minded as a lot of stallions are for instance. I have handled and trained and shod 2 horses that had no problem at all trying to kill people, (literally) and raised and trained stallions and one just simply has to be more "alert" and understand whats involved in handling them is all.
Anyway, some people like him, some people don't. When you really have to start worrying is when everybody hates you, I guess?
I don't practice any of his methods personally.

Hi Abi

If you look at the post "Has anyone ever tried Parelli training" and/or type Parelli in the search box above you will see some good discussions about Parelli and other methods of training. Best wishes. Vicci

In all reality, I usually find myself doing the right thing when everyone does hate what I am doing... I worry more when everyone likes me or what I am doing...
