I am a fairly new rider, and I still have a hard time figuring out which lead I'm on without looking down and even then, frankly, it takes me some time to figure it out. I'd like to know if Monty can break that down for us greener riders: what feel should I be looking for? is there a part of my body that will track with the horse's leading foot? are there other indicators I can look for in a correct/incorrect lead that I can feel as the rider?

My trainer says you need to develop a feel for your horse. You can tell the lead from the shoulder movement of the horse. Ride with your eyes closed when you feel comfortable and it is safe (no obstacles to run into) to track the movement of your horse
Thank you. I will talk to my trainer about this and see what we can do. I certainly need to sort this out if I am to take my riding skills to the next level.
