Does anybody know what the student suggestions in the University are? Are we supposed to post videos here? Or does Monty take the suggestions and make videos of them?

Hi ILOVEHORSES,
When you say "the student suggestions in the University" I assume you mean this particular "sub-forum" of the Forum.
I believe it is meant for us students to put up ideas and suggestions for lessons at the Uni; ideas that Monty can turn into educational vids similar to the ones that already exists. (Similar in form, not content!)
.
As for what is doable, I recall reading an answer (years ago) by one of the Uni Team people here that they are looking for "general" problems that will help many students.
Now, if someone for example suggests a lesson on how to proceed with a horse with impaired sight or a mild case of Wobbler's syndrome, that would probably be too specific and unusual problem to be helpful for the greater bulk of students here.
.
That is my understanding anyway. :) If I'm way off, I hope Debbie or someone else will correct me. :)
Hi Kicki. That's my understanding too - suggestions of general areas that can be turned into lessons on the Uni. I did post a suggestion but it has yet to be adopted - Willing Partners horses are all ride & drive. My thought was a child's pony could still be a valued family member if it could be driven too as when outgrown for riding any family member could drive it. This subject has been touched on in a demo, shown on TV, of a young driving pony stung by a bee & later involved in a collision & brought to the demo as now too nervous to drive - excellent! Hopefully, this subject will make it onto the Uni in due course, as it is routinely happening at Flags are Up Farms so should be an easy video to make. Cheers, Jo.
If there ever is a time to proceed incrementally, it is when you introduce your horse to a carriage of any kind.
The last thing you want is a panicked horse (or pony) taking off with something dragging behind that is also attached to its body. It's a recipe for disaster!
Hi Girls!! I am sure Monty has loads of videos on all his Willing Parners when they are schooled for the driving! It is a great idea ILOVEHORSES (and good point Kicki!) - just the other day we started to school our little shetland pony to the bike - before she goes into the driving lessons she will be going with us bike riding :) I believe it is a great subject. Monty has some really nice carts and wagons for his horses! Warmest CI Ann Lindberg/Sweden
I have a gipsy cob he was 8 months old when i got him and now he is 5 years old he still rea's up when he go's out the gate
he still do's this can i see a video on how to stop this.
And he uses his head as a wepon as well.
Can you tell me what lesson number it would be best to look at. A lot of people have the worry of a horse that bolts, we have just come across one that backs quickly for up to 25 metres as a behaviour, any suggestions?
Jan, Try the Walter won't go forwards lessons.
What do you do when horse's wont let you get up on Them.?
is this a stirip problem?
I have not seen a video on this subject yet.
This is a good suggestion Linda, also might be a good subject to start as a discussion thread.
