Hello my dear friends,
I haven't been in this forum for quite a long time now and my life has changed in many things over the last years.
Today I am writing here as I have received some strange emails lately.
A woman who calls herself "Mephia Johnson" wrote to me and told me, that she found my email address here in this forum. Yes, it is right, I mentioned it two or three times, but this is about three years ago now. I can't imagine, that she went back in time trough the forum for three years just to find my email address.
She asked me to answer to her and told me that she was interested in me. So I asked her in which way she was interested.
This morning she answered back and told me, that she was the daughter of a banker from Liberia, who was killed in the last crisis of their country, and that her mother died of a heart attack. Futher she mentioned, that she escaped to Senegal then, and that her father left her a legacy of 4.3 Million Dollars. She asked me to give her my full name, address, phone number, occupation and a picture of mine, which she would all tell her bank to transfer the money to my country then (I am from Germany).
Of course I am not willing to tell her all these things about me and will surely not answer.
But my question is, did somebody here have similar experiences lately?
Best whishes,
Jasmin
That is strange, I wouldn't give her any of these details, quite possibly a scam. A warning to us all I suppose not to give out email addresses or phone numbers!! Which is a shame as we can meet up with people who are local to us, and like Sarah an Mel can arrange to meet up at a demo...
It is a scam Jasmin, do not reply and try and block he from your email if possible.
Sadly the forum is public to read, not post, so people who have programs can scan through public forums and obtain any email addresses that may have been put in there for communication between members. Anyone asking for personal details is a scam, so do not give out any information for your own protection.
My mobile number is public on my website, so I have no problem giving it out on here, but for those not wishing their details to be used always best not to post it publicly. If anything better to connect via Facebook or Twitter where mobile numbers can be exchanged in private.
Be safe!

A good warning for us all - I'm glad you didn't give any information renjaho. I suggest you block the sender, report it as spam and delete anything or everything she sends. This is a very common scam sadly.
Hi. Yes, I got one unsolicited email - which I deleted as I immediately identified as highly suspect. Be careful everyone - scammers seem to invade everywhere. Cheers, Jo.
Hi Debbie and all,
Question for the supportbox: is it possible for anyone to enter this forum without being part of the UNI, ea a nonpaying guest? Apparently yes!
If it's possible to hack the Pentagon, why not our dear old forum....
Is there a way of securing it ?
Let's take this warning seriously and NOT give any personal information through this forum! In case of need, could we use the supportbox for exchanging info?
Just a few thoughts.
Kind regards,
Miriam
It's not a hack Miriam. If you log out and then go to the home page you'll see forum in the tabs, click this link and you can see exactly what we see inside except they can't post in the forum. Here's the direct link so you can see what it looks like for this thread.

Hi renjaho et al,
So sorry you had your email compromised. This is obviously not a friendly horse person contributing to the betterment of horses. The Forum is a place for sharing positive conversations to further the cross polinate Join-Up concepts. Only students of Monty's Equus Online Uni can post and contribute. But it is on the internet and not behind a wall which is why we have profiles and not shared contacts. Mel is correct that it is not hacking but best practices are to share contacts through Facebook or Twitter if you must. Or contact me through the support tab (golden color) and we can discuss.
Meanwhile, renjaho please can you narrow the dates and thread titles where you entered your email and may I delete them?
