Before i did the join up with blaze my friend did it with her favourite horse called elvis she cantered him around about 5 or 6 time on each rein then went back to the same direction as the first direction she did with him he did all 4 gestures 1st he put his inner ear locked on her 2nd he did a smaller circle 3rd he put his head down and 4th licking and chewing (while he had his head down) so he went back to a trot and he stopped and she was turning around and going up to him and then walking away and rubbed him and walked away was that right??(i dont know if she loked at his eyes or not??)

Probably the things you are doing are right. But I am convinced that you need a teacher to learn the practical part of Join-Up and how to use your body language.

Hi Roisin

You should have a look on intelligent horsemanship website they have a thing called ih kids that may be good - you may be able to find other kids or get advice on teachers in ireland. The recommended associate for ireland is in county kerry - dont know if this is anywhere near for you but perhaps they could suggest sympathetic teachers that give lessons in your area - worth a try ;0)

Hope you got on good with the contacts - Ih Kids does a section for teenagers too and its free to join ;0) Means you can keep in touch with other folks your age in the UK working with Montys Techniques and you can all swap experiences. The intelligent Horsemanship RAs are all fab and all trained via Kelly Marks so will keep yopu right on what you are doing, most importantly - have fun ;0)
