I do not have access to ponies apart from my riding school. I really really wanted to try join up with a horse called Blaze. He is one of the crazier school ponies [He is crazy because some stupid kid mistreated him] but I love him and so I asked if I could try it and I was told I could. I was sooooooooo happy. I orientated him to the arena [It was very big but it was all there was] then I let him go at 12 o clock and started driving him round. He kept his ear locked on me and the inner circle and then he put his head down. At this point I turned around and asked for join up. I knew he hadnt licked and chewed but I could tell he was only guessing that I was doing join up because he probably thought he was being lunged. Did I do the right thing? By the way I am only 13 so dont give out to me if it was a stupid thing to do =]

What happened? Did you get Join Up? I have a pony who has been lunged extensively and it is very difficult to get her to join up as she just ignores your body language and trots round blindly.
I did get join up but it took a long time and I had to send lots of invitations [arcs]
Sounds like you did well to me, it won't be easy to communicate with a riding school pony as a lot of them are pretty switched off. It's great that you are so interested in this way of working, I'm sure Blaze will appreciate your efforts :)
I have done it 3 times but each time it takes even longer for him to join up with me :(
