Saw Monty at Bury Farm ( http://www.buryfarmestates.co.uk/ ) on 16th February 2013.
He and Kelly used my horse Rocco as the Private Demo horse for the Intelligent Horsemanship members.
I must say that it was great to meet Monty, I was shaking with excitement and nearly cried when he came to say hello to us and find out about our horses. Starstruck wasn't the word!!
Anyway, it was a long evening and at the end of it I was exhausted (despite actually doing nothing all day). Monty at 77 years of age was still wandering around answering questions, signing books and posing for photos. He made sure that all the horses were safely loaded before leaving.
He is a legend, I only hope I look that great when I am his age! What an amazing man!
I agree! I went to Flag is Up for one week and he was home, talk about starstruck. I was a babbling grinning idiot and could hardly string a sentence together!! But a fabulous experience nevertheless!
Oh Wow Vicci, I would LOVE to go to Flag is up...did you go for a course?
I emailed them but they never replied so I am going to Kelly next week for the Foundation course.

Hi Rockstar Jen,
I know exactly what you mean about being star struck. I have been to several Monty Demos & had the honour of meeting him for a book signing on each occasion. Every time I get to the signing stand next to him I end up saying something stupid like a silly teenager meeting their favorite popstar!!
Yes my idol is a 77yr old cowboy & I`m not afraid to say it!!
I am on the Foundation Course 18th-22nd March & am Sooooo looking forwards to it. A whole week of nothing but horses!! Sounds like heaven.
Take Care.
Jill. xx
I wanted to train at Montys in California but I couldn't afford it but as he has an open door policy I decided to visit for a week. I sold some furniture to pay for the flight etc. and went :-) I was very very lucky, he was home, the advanced course was running, the Willing Partners programme was just starting and the 2 year olds had just arrived, barry Humphreys (Dame Edna Everidge) was there (can you believe that?!!. I watched so many things it was mind blowing. I saw Monty work with a very badly abused stallion, I watched him ride Nice Chrome cutting calves and guinea fowl (what a rider and what a horse!). I met Debbie, Montys daughter, (and I have plagued her ever since with questions and requests!). I worked with Debbie to persuade them to make the mini dually for our native ponies (so that is my claim to fame ;-) ). Here, I've done Kelly Marks courses (5 day foundation, foal handling, nutrition, psychology, leading and loading, horse as athlete)as well as helping on the 5 day as well. you will love it. The 5 day is fantastic!
we went to Bury Farm also. i was soooo excited to be seeing him and Kelly. to actually have my picture taken with him was amazing enough, let alone have either of them work with my horse!
Monty truely is an amazing (horse)man
Hi Jill, hope you are having a good course. I loved last week.
Rocco stayed behind to help with the students as I am on a physio course this week. Give him a rub on his chest for me as that is his favourite spot. I miss him and can't wait to go and pick him up on Saturday :)
Vicci, there were some ladies from a mini shetland stud who bought the mini dually so they will be really grateful to you for that.
Cobgirl, which horse was yours? I probably will remember you :)
I'm glad its getting good use Rock!
