Is it ok to lunge without a round pen?
I long-line my horse with his saddle on, in the corner of the field (I don't have a round pen), with no problems.
I put the saddle on as normal, run the stirrups down and secure them to the girth with velcro bands so they can't flap around. I then pass each long line through the stirrup iron and onto the bit or dually halter ring. Hope this is of some help!
Thank you so much ponymagic!I cant wait to try it!!!
You're welcome, Roisin! Good luck! :)
So glad to see you use two lines Roisin!
Thank you Local!I could hardly use one line after watching the long lining vidoes though! :) Thanks!I appreiciate people who comment! It means alot to me!
I used some red and white road-works warning tape and plastic hammer in electric fence posts in field to make a smaller enclosure and the horses repected the tape very well.
Thanks Rachael
Thanks Rachael
any ideas for if you board, the round pen where I am is a joke, it is barely 15-20 feet across not safe in case horse would kick and its on a slight hill on grass. The dirt paddock I was using is now growing grass in it which is another distraction so I use what I can and walk the horse with Dually and then add the saddle, again walk and do all of this till its time to get her to come to mounting block. If anything she gets eager to have me just get on and ride! LOL!
