Ever since Monty Roberts introduced Join-Up in his Online University and videos my horses and I have become a team and look forward to working out.....The trust and the willingness to do any of the exercises offered they do in a very sweet loving way...There is a softness in the eye and demeanor when asked to back up a slight incline....It is fun to see that the fright they may have felt before seems to have melted away most especially when the licking and the chewing appears they are then rewarded with a rub between the eyes and down their noses.....
Another part of our routine apart from grooming is the use of ground poles and cavaletties and also the use of the huge green horse ball which they learned to push with their noses....We do serpentine's in and out of the ground poles together without the use of the lead rope.....It is a new way of utilizing the tools learned from Monty...Prior to this time I was always told to use my crop or dressage whip and just like Walter Won't Go Forward I too had a mare who was not a happy camper whenever she needed more impulsion the whip was used ....The whips are a thing of the past and are displayed as ornaments....The girls are more willing to do whatever exercise more willingly and have fun doing it too.
Thanks again Monty Roberts for sharing your gifts with all of us whether or not horse people or in another walk of life...Violence, mean, nasty talk hurts just as badly as if struck with a blunt object to the body only the imprint is inbeded somewhere in the crevices of our brain.
Therefore,by utilizing these tools Monty Roberts has given us not just with our animals but with people too is an out of the box, learning fun way to create and enjoy all facets of life God intended us to.
