What a wonderful lesson showing how little things like a lead line waving can affect our join up and follow up. I think when we are so focused on our join up, our horses pick up on our movements that we don't even realize we are doing. I am lucky that I have my mom so interested in Monty's techniques that she walks me through the join up like monty did to emma. She was able to pick up on things that i was doing improperly that i didn't even know I was doing. I have to do many more join ups to log my muscle memory. For those people who have problems with join up and you have no one there to check you, perhaps video tape your session and analze it later.

Thats very good advice, I did join up for the first time today and I wasnt very sure what I was doing. I had watched all the videos but I hadnt tried it before and to make matters worse I was under time pressure. I did do it though so I cant have been too bad. It was the horses first time doing join up aswell. Afterwards I sat and thought about it and realised all my mistakes and now I am feeling confident and ready to try again tomorrow.
