Anyone have any ideas? Have done join-up with all our 17 horses and have been successful. This one horse gives all the 4 signs but when invited in she stops, faces up, will not move from that point, she stares forward and does not blink either, if you arc in semi circles and invite her again, she will move her head but that is it. I am confused with this behavior, help please?

Hello!

Sorry Shiney girl!!!I dont know the answer but like Monty says , its the persons fault if the horse wont join up.Id advise just watching the join up video over and over again. Also make sure your horse isnt an orphan as they dont speak equus very fluently!!=)

sometimes you can encourage them with a soft pull on the halter for follow up, then maybe next time you won't need to. It's baffling though why she doesn't follow up..

Could it have something to do with her eye sight?
Is something/someone moving behind you? Sharp light or deep shadows that distracts her? Are you wearing something that confuses your horse? (hat, cloak, perfume, something that makes a sound or reflects light?)

thanks for all the insight, she is not an orphan, usually follows you all over the farm. Nothing wrong with her eyesight either. I think maybe the hole in her training might just be forward motion and she appears locked up on the front end. It is just so weird, all other horses did reasonably good if not awesome.

HI

Maybe try what Monty suggests; Have someone video you during the whole process of joinup and you might find the answer.
