I was wondering something, does anyone know if the horse Joey, in the story War Horse really exist?

Hi Horse addict,
The book called "War Horse" was written by Michael Morpurgo in 1982.
It has an "Author's Note", stating that it refers to a painting of a horse called Joey, painted by Captain James Nicholls, autumn 1914.
The book is out as a paperback by Egmont Press, Ethical Publishing, ISBN 978-1-4052-2666-0.
You'll be touched once more!

Yeah, it was a great movie Charlotte!
No - it's not based on a particular horse, rather an amalgamation of all horses who served and died in the great war. Very sad tale - I'm going to the stage show in February. I'll be taking tissues!
I'm pretty sure that War Horse is a true story. I don't know if the horse was named Joey though. By the way you should totally read the book Charlotte!
There is a book called "Bill the Bastard" which is a true story about a horse call Bill in WW1. He was a part of the Australia Lighthorse who fought in Palestine 1914-1918. Also a recent move called "The Waler" about same horses may be able to find on DVD..
