Hello! 100 lessons completed

Thank you for posting this topic.
As a beginner, I have been looking myself for such a chronology in order to orientate my field practice with horses, and my beginner’s impression is that Equus program so far goes a kind of random about this need. Not to be misunderstood, please note that I appreciate very much Equus online University and I now take it as my primary source of learning as far as horses and horsemanship are concerned. We should also consider that this is the first year of EOU, maybe a kind of “testing year”.
However, just because I am a beginner (and maybe I should have passed a High School degree before entering a University) I feel the need of a guideline, such as: “OK, now I have a horse and I have a number of lessons on how to handle it. It seams clear enough that Join-Up© should be the starting point. But what should thereon be the best next steps in a chronological and logical sequence?”
Studying the EOU program, I figured out the following “Sections” and “Chapters” of our visual “textbook”. My exercise is mostly based on the up-to-date lessons and I honestly wouldn’t know where and/or how to classify many of the coming ones.

INTRODUCTION: A word from Monty (I personally consider it the very Basic of Basic Foundation)

SECTION I – GROUND LESSONS
CHAPTER 01: Join-Up©
CHAPTER 02: Dually Halter
CHAPTER 03: Spooky Kadina Chronicles
CHAPTER 04: Long Lining (Single-Longeing)
CHAPTER 05: Long Lining (Double-Longeing)
CHAPTER 06: Into pressure

SECTION II – MOUNTED LESSONS
CHAPTER 07: Six Imperatives for the Riding Horse
CHAPTER 08: Standing Still
CHAPTER 09: Moving Forward
CHAPTER 10: Turning
CHAPTER 11: Backing Up
CHAPTER 12: Stopping
CHAPTER 13: Moving of the Leg

This should apparently cover the Basic Foundation, although it would be very helpful having Monty’s opinion on the above.

Bruno,
Thank you for the chronological listing.
Having this road map will be very helpful as it will give myself, and I hope others some direction, instead of just wandering the University.

Hello! 100 lessons completed

Be careful, TexasPhil; don’t forget that I’m a beginner! My logical list only reflects my assumption on what a step-by-step program might be. Better not to take it too seriously and wait for some more competent advise. In the Forum there is a lady named “Local” that I suppose belonging to the management. I hope that soon or later she will give us her advice.

I have pondered this as well, but I guess it caters for all rider levels so someone wanting to canter from the halt probably wouldn't need the 'stopping' lesson so much. It would be nice to have Monty out in the yard every time reminding me where I was up to and what comes next but we should give ourselves a break and realise it doesn't have to be perfectly accurate to the second!! The age old way of learning from mistakes will always be there and with Montys' university tutoring, hopefully our mistakes won't be too dramatic.... Relax and have some fun with it. Now I just need to take my own advice!!!!
