Hi,
I have just bought a 20 yr old thoroughbred mare 3 weeks ago, she had her two year old foal still with her at the time but only she was for sale,so we had to seperate them, she was settling in ok,a little spooked and anxiuos but ok, there is now another horse adjoining her back paddock she now for the past two days hasn't come down to eat, and when i have bought her down to the bottom paddock she plays up and as soon as i let her go she gallops back to the fence line to be with the other horse again, any suggestion on how to stop her being so obsessed with him??
Thanks Nicky

Horses are herds animals that are supposed to live in groups. Join up is based on that. It's one of the strongest instinct for the horses. What you want is for your horse to se you as another member of the herd just like the other horse in the back of the field so that she will bound with you as much as with the other horse.
