Hi Caiti.jane, It is normal for a horse to have hollows above the eyes :-) The older they get the more hollowed they become. Is this horse an older horse? When a horse chews these hollows should fill and recede as they chew. If they don't move at all it can be a sign of poor health (not saying Alli is in poor health!) How old is Alli can i ask? If her health is fine i wouldn't worry about either horse :-) Hope this helps you a bit.

the other horse is a 36 year old gelding. Alli is 7 and she wasnt eating at the time. i've had her for three months and they've been filled since i got her im pretty sure. Is she sick? How do i help her if she is? I've heard of a disease called cushings. is that the one where the hollows are filled?
Hi Caiti, Cushings is a disease caused by a tumour in the pitiutary gland. The list of symptoms is extensive and most of them are severe. Including excessive drinking, weight loss, sway back stance, woolly coat which does not shed in winter and the list goes on! It is very rare in a young horse too. I doubt it if Alli has this disease! I would say she is just normal and the other horses age is the reason for his hollows :-)
