Today I came home and I cried. I attended a ground work clinic. This guy has been put on a very high pedestal for his training. He as won great notoriety for his colt starting etc. This man should not be allowed to handle horses. Several attendees had good horses, well cared for and loved. This guy used a whip to the extent of putting welts on almost all of the horses. He ran the horses to the point of panic. He has no idea of how to read a horse and has no compassion. The really sad part of this is that some of these people will go home and continue to treat their horses badly just because some joker with a fancy name and trophy belt buckle said this is how he got his reputation. I went to the clinic to learn about liberty work. All I learned is that I don't want to do this if this is the way to get there. I learned everything not to do. I never imagined that after all the progress that has been made in natural horsemanship that this much cruelty is still so prevalent.
I Attended your Introductory course and learned how these wonderful creatures should be treated...with mutual respect. I came home today and promised my mare that no one would ever treat her badly. I have never used a whip on a horse, in all the years with horses and this mess today certainly reinforced why and that it will never happen.
Sincerest, heartfelt thanks to Monty, his students, his instructors for continuing to make the world of our horse a better, kinder place and people.
For all of us who believe and know how well Monty's methods work may we all continue to spread the word and maybe put the bad guys out of business.

Hi Lyn
:
It's so disheartening sometimes isn't it? There is no logic to cruelty and yet it is so widespread. Who is this trainer? I'm not asking that we can start an endless criticism but I do feel it's important we know who these trainers are so we can avoid the distress to our horses and ourselves from people who would cause us and them harm.
:
As Monty says, natural horsemanship does not always equate to non violent horsemanship - it should, but it doesn't.

Hope you are feeling a bit more settled now Lyn and know that you are not alone.
Absolutely! I completely agree and just want to say thank you for everything to Monty and his team as well!!!
