Hi all!
Does anyone who have any past exam questions from the Monty Roberts Preliminary Certificate? I'm currently working through the huge manual and would love to have an idea of the types of essay questions to help me revise and practice. Are the questions very specific, as in knowing every anatomical part, or more open-ended essays? How much do you have to write for each question? Any advice/examples would be a great help!
Thanks in advance,
Zoe :)
Hi Zoe, I have no information for you. But wanted to acknowledge your post.
:
Knowing Monty's back ground and his teaching methods. I would suggest that less-is-more. Don't try to pad you answers. Be specific, concise and detailed. No BS necessary. I'm confident if you know your material you will do well. Good luck to you. :)
Hi Zoe
Good Luck in your exams - or maybe you have already done them by now your post was over a week ago.
As one of Monty's Master Instructors, i have graded more Intro exams than i can remember and i would suggest that as a student wanting to take the exams and learn more about Monty's training that you should be completely up to date on all the lessons on the uni - from your status it appears you haven't even seen 100 of the lessons yet.
i would expect any student who i have taken through an Intro course to at least use and learn from these lessons - as many questions to the psychology side to the exam are answered here in lessons.
All students who take the Intro course at Flag is Up farm are expected to utilize the Uni to the utmost when exams are ahead of them.
Good luck anyway and hopefully you will make it to the advanced course at Flag is Up in California if you are looking to take your learning further.

Hi zoe,
First of all I'd like to congratulate you on taking the Intro-or Preliminary Course as you call it. It's a treasure of knowledge and a lifetime toolkit! From your words I guess
you're in the UK, anyway I suggest you find someone from your course or at the same level and work your way through the manual together. This is the way I did it, coming together with another student every two or three weeks, well prepared, so we could try to find answers to questions that came up during the learning period. There's no shortcut through the learning, it seems a huge amount of information, but since you can take all the time you need to learn the theory, it's just as fast as you are...
The manual seems big, but working your way through it, you'll find the logic in it.
Try to work with as many domesticated horses you can legally put your hands on, every horse will tell you his individual story. More information will give you more experience.
I wish you a lot of fun and good luck on this wonderful journey with the horses!
Miriam
Thanks for all the advice and encouragement.
Maya - I have watched almost every video on the university! Many of them more than once, as I keep going back for tips whenever I come across something I'm unsure of. I don't know why this doesn't show up (I've only just noticed that it says '11' by my name). Maybe because i didn't complete the questions afterwards, just watched the videos?
Hi Zoe. Yes, complete Montys Challenges & your accreditations will show up immediately. Oh, & good luck. I too revisit again & again the lessons to ensure I react positively & my little herd seem to show that for the most part I'm doing ok in their book. Cheers, Jo.
