Dually Halter experience

..so after 2 days of my attempt to join up, I called my session today our official join up though I still will make my attempts to perfect it for the next few days. I think the horse I work with has decided I am okay BUT she is not 100% sure yet (she is checking me out and tries me to see if I will negatively behave toward her I think) After our " join up" session, it was time to give the Dually Halter a try and boy was I in shock!! I put it on and in less than a minute, had an amazing cooperative horse that followed my steps closely, acting as if she was trained for many months. It was sort of funny for me to be fast walking, taking BIG strides while the horse was sort of 'jogging' to catch up to be at my 'sweet spot' and by my shoulder. She did not do as well with the backward walk but since we were at it for a good hour between our join up and walks , I decided we were done as I wanted to call it the night on a positive note. It was a FANTASTIC experience- talking about high adrenaline rush. We were both proud of our accomplishments and certainly looking forward to our next session at my end!!

Hello!

Thought i would add to this, i think your achievements are wonderful and congratulations to anyone else with stories like this. I thought that ( as im so excited!! ) i would share my VERY small join up success too :) This braking news ( only happened a while go ) The first time my thoroughbred ex racehorse did join up with me !!! I had received a dually halter for xmas and used it from the moment i got it and the learning speeds just shot through the roof!! i am so grateful for these lessons and advice and proud that my horse trusts me a little more.
Just to add a question however, to those people who do not have a school or a round pen, is there a way of doing join up in a field or something??

Hi Louis,
If you do a search in the Q&A section on this question, you will find Monty's answer. I believe he said having a round pen is not necessary but ideal. So glad to hear that you had a great time with your 4-legged friend! :-)
