I would love to see a lesson on driving your horse, and/or introducing your horse to drive.

Oh yes, I would very much like to see that too
Isn't that what long lining is?
In a sense yes, but with long lining you are not using a cart. I want to see how to introduce the cart. Getting the horse used to a harness. As well as see how to get your horse to drive with a cart (the gentle way). I know Monty has all his willing partners learn how to drive even if they never do it again in their lifetime. I believe he said it was a tool to help gentle the horse, and increase partnership. Plus it would be a fun thing to do with your horse. A change from always riding or doing the same thing. Get their brain and yours stimulated.
I would love to see this too :-) I have a mini who i would love to introduce to harness when my kids have outgrown him :-)
I have been wanting to learn about this too.
I know this thread is a bit old, but just want to put my vote in too, for some lessons on driving :-)
My aim is to train both our ponies to drive.
Yes I would love to learn about this topic as well!!
This would be an excellent lesson! To see how to introduce the cart to the horse for the FIRST time
I would like to see this as well, just today I was thinking about how it could be done.
Would love to see this our little mini Annie would be great at it I think and it would give her a job.
Me too! Getting a mini and would love to use Monty's methods.
Anything driving related would be great, thanks Monty. Not all of us can ride and would still like to do fun things with their horses :-)
In Q & A you state your Willing Partners are also driven to make more gentle horses. Please turn this into a series for the Uni. You also say you have found no difference between blinkered & blinkerless. My 11.3 would benefit from the exercise so please share this with us!

Would be great to see some "Monty" driving advise :)
Absolutely! Would love to train my horse to drive at some point although she is ridden at the moment.. but has the right movement and personality for the carriage.
My best horsey friend got a companion pony from world horse welfare we backed to ride as she wanted a little job but with time etc and sarah being too heavy for her she then started to do all the work for driving! Well the pony took to it like a duck to water and in 6 months ( she did tyre pulling and training for the breaching pressure etc as well as the blinkres work) and she was in front of a trap and going round the block. Now we go for Sunday drives and Maple loves it!
MY UNDERSTANDING IS, YOUR "WILLING HORSES" ARE ALL TRAINED FOR DRIVING TOO !
PLEASE, SHOW AND TEACH US MORE ABOUT DRIVING !!!
THANKS IN ADVANCE !!
