Here is a sight that will help you to weigh your horse. Most of us cannot afford to buy a set of equine scales.
The sight is: http://wwww.thehorse.com/Tool/Weight-Calculator.aspx
There is a video showing you how to measure heart girth and body length.
Great sight to keep and suscribe to. It is good advice from vets. It's free.
Hope this helps.
There is a measuring tape that is for measuring the height snd weight of horses, it is very easy to use and only costs about $4. You can get them at just about any feed store, and online, got mine on Ebay.
Hi Phantom,
Those measuring tapes are great, my daughter has one and I used it on STAR. It was pretty accurate but off enough for the vet to be concerned.
Star needed meds and we had to be as accurate as possible that is why I use this method now.
It's real easy, you need two people for measuring the length and the tape has to be long enough.
The site has a calculator. You type in the measuring information and it has a video to show you how to do it.
There are other links on conformation and BMI measurements for a healthy horse.
It really is a great site.
Hope you all enjoy it.
Just to say that if you get a 404 with Star's link to the calculator site, it is just because of a "w" too many in the address.
Thanks for the link, Ronda! It is very good! :)
I would like to see indepth lessons on conformation.
