Hey just want to say I really like the achievement rosettes for completing 100 and 150 lessons. :)
Also I'm really grateful for the lessons on the six imperatives for the riding horse. It's been very helpful for me to watch them and get a better foundation for the basics of riding. Although I've been around horses off and on for about thirty years, when I started off I wasn't taught these basic foundational riding principals and I had a horse which hadn't been trained properly, so whenever someone tried to tell me how to ride, my efforts to comply didn't seem very successful. I'm looking forward to being far more clear and concise and consistant in the future. Blessings to everyone on the uni and to Monty & co.

You took the words right out of my mouth, K.D!
I just printed out the diploma on extra thick paper and very proudly hung on my office wall. :) :)
My husband is so proud of me he is downloading mine onto a computer stick and taking that to the printers so the embozing will show.
I'm very thankfull to Monty for thinking of such a thing to encourage us.
We all worked hard for those and we should be proud of ourselves, right.
Congradulations every one,
Ronda
Hi All,
How clever can you be.... ahum...
I am a member for 5 month now and when those medals popped up underneath the photo's on the forum, I thought were is mine?
I watched maybe over the hundred and fifty times my lessons but nothing happened with going up in numbers of lessons.
It stucked at 4 and I wanted to have my medal(s) to!!!!
In the first month being a student, I found the questions near the lessons and answered 4 of them, but I forgot about that..pfffft....
So in a few day's now I answered a lot of questions and I have my medal now as well. Yeh... What I experienced is, that it was very easy now to answer them, because I watched some video's so many times. And it was a good test for me to see if I understood it.
Great isn't it to have a medal for being a good student.
Yes, it was a good idea of Monty and hope I will have my second medal soon.
I will print mine out as well and will frame it and put it near my bed haha...
Cheers, May
May
Way to go!. I think maybe you have that right idea about watching the videos a number of times and waiting to answer the questions later. I am going to try that for the next few lessons and see how I do.
Cheers
Hi Dennis,
Well Dennis, you give me the good feeling that after all it wasn't realy "stupid" to forget about the questions, ha.
I am wondering how your experiences will be with this idea.
Good luck.
Have a nice weekend, May
Hi May - I did the same as you!! Started OK doing both the lesson and the challenge quiz but then just got a bit short of time and skipped the quizes. Wondered why my lesson score stopped rising so went back to do the quiz's. As my brain needs exercise these days I tried to get 100% on the quiz's without re-looking at the lesson. If I even failed one question I returned to the lessons. Soooo... you are not the only one to make this initial error - I felt a bit stupid too!!! The Rosettes are fun aren't they?
Well done to all of you with watching so many sessions - - Hopefully one day you will be in a position to come to the Learning Centre in California and complete a hands on class with us - - We also have Certificates for them !
Enjoy the ongoing learning with the Uni and learning from your horses - have fun
Maya
Thanks for Popping in Maya. Love your Certified Instructor Badge!
The Rossetti for our Lesson Accomplishments are Fun To See. Sounds like I should Hook up my printer and print out my certificate also. ;o)
It was fun reaching the two rosette level to-day. It seems I have watched most of Monty's videos now so it is time for a re-run of my favourites. Really enjoyed the last few series I have watched. "Access all Areas" was one of the best series and lots of fun for me and "show Jumping with Will Simpson" was mind boggling - such beautiful horses and such skill. Thanks Monty I have learnt so much this last year from your videos. Now I need to consider whether or not to re-join for another 12 months.
Don't go MaggieF,
We need your common sence!!!!!
Ronda
PS: being selfish or what, ah! (me):(
Maggie, please join for another year. You have such good advice, and yes, common sense too. We need someone like you.
Thanks so much Ronda and Phantommustang. You put a smile on my face as I know sometimes I say the wrong thing. I have really enjoyed reading everyones comments on Forum this year and learnt so much from all my fellow students too.
Hey Maggie,
Do any of us say the "right" thing? We say what we feel and give the best we have and that is all we can do.
I enjoy your comments and find they always help me in some way.
Somedays I just feel like giving up but I read something from our downunder girl and presto, it all makes sence.
Thank you,
Ronda
Thank you for all the kind exchanges and positive notes. This is what a good Forum is all about! We're glad you are motivated by the rosettes and even more proud of your happy horses as a result. You are all great ambassadors for Monty's gentle concepts.
No don't leave!!!!! Monty has 72 years of horse work. There are so many wonderful things we haven't even talked about. My goodness what Laurel Roberts has taught me about waste management, is mind boggeling. When you see his pastures at the farm I know know why they look so good. I got to be in on the Beta group when they were first starting the Uni that was in 2009. I am not even close to knowing enough, as long as it is going on I am in it for the long haul. I have new friends from all over the world because of the Uni. We all love the same thing, horses, and we all want to be the best owners ever! I would miss you if you were not here to talk to.
Thanks mssmith, Ronda and Phantommustang for your friendship, comments and help in making my decision. I would hate to miss any future videos that Monty may produce and I would miss everyone on forum too so, yes I will rejoin. I am sure that Tricka and my other horses will be pleased by this decision too. Tricka learnt so much this year from Monty too and is now a docile, friendly happy horse who canters down to see me as soon as I enter her paddock. This time last year she was really testing me out and my search for a solution to her naughtiness brought me to Monty. So many of my adult riding friends told me that I treated her like a princess and I needed to get tougher with her. They even started recommending no nonsense re-trainers for her as they felt I had been too soft with her when breaking her in by myself. Thankgoodness I didn't listen but found Monty's Uni instead. She is now very responsive to me both on the ground and when mounted and no more ears back in disrespect. I still get comments that I treat her like a princess but why not when she is behaving as I wish her to? We have learnt from Monty and our Forum friends to be kind to each other, and to trust and respect each other. Some of the things Tricka has learnt from Monty's videos are and the dually halter:
1. to join up and follow up with me both in the menage and in her paddock when with her companion
2. to stand still when tied up, for saddling, for the farrier, for mounting and when requested when mounted
3. to move to the mounting block and waite for me to mount
4. to lead correctly, stay in the sweet spot, to stop with me and to trot with me
5. to float willingly
Hi MaggieF,
You can be so proud of yourself and Tricka!
Look at you, so many acchievements and so many friends, just from making the right choice and sticking to it. The work is yours and the credits are yours too, but I know we all profit from each other, every question takes us all (at least!) one step further.
Thank you for staying at this Uni and adding to the pool of knowledge that we share.
Keep the good work going!
Miriam
Thanks Miriam for such great comments. You do make me feel proud!
