Treat me well, treat me right,
Give me hay and straw tonight,
I was sad and I was scared,
So for my passing be prepared
It feels as though I've hardly eaten,
Throughout the time I was kicked and beaten
for I've been sold from pillar to post,
And separated from what I loved most,
All I needed was someone to care
With food and water and love to spare,
But in my darkest days of pain,
they hurt me and put my ears in chains,
In humans I cannot place my trust,
They treat me like I'm less than dust,
I've been starved of food and water and try
To lift my head to see the sky,
But now it's too late to find a cure
To save a horse who's at deaths door,
In one last painful effort I see,
the brightest star, it shines for me,
So now I'm safe and here I lie,
I peacefully let go to die
I wrote this poem about all those horses who are refered to as 'rogue' horses and who live and die with no one to love them a care for them. The horse in this poem did get rescued but by then was too emaciated to keep going.
Thanks,

That is so sad :(
Aaaaah -
Horses are so 'fragile' and the best teachers anyone could ever ask for.
it amazes me how some people can be so Hard Hearted to let these amazing creatures go without food, water, or care. i will never believe a horse is 'rogue', but rather a creature who has been abandoned and abused, and, with a little comfort and care, will blossom into the gentle companion to humans it was born to be.
For this reason (even if i am only 14) i am going to study equine therapy so i too can help horses like Monty has dedicated his life to them.
You are a good poet, Abbie, Thank you :) .

Oh wow, you have talent Abbie.
Abi - keep writing and using that wonderful gift you have for poetry. When you collect enough please make sure you publish them for worldwide distribution. Poems like this should be shared. Keep up the good work and encouragement for those of us who rescue horses and those who may be thinking about it. Cheers Jan
Thanks,
And hey Charlotte I'm 14 too! I want to become an equine vet (but I will try and publish a book if I can! ;D) when I'm older.

You young people give me hope that the future will be better for horses and people too.I wish you strength, determination ,preseverance and supportive people as you become equine therapists and vets.
Thanks Cheryl :)
Wow Abi -
i also thought of becoming an equine vet, but i wouldn't be able to 'cause i don't like to do surgery or anything like that. Good luck with your book! :)
