Just heard that the student body of EQUUS online university represents over 54 countries now. New students from Botswana & Estonia joined us!
May I suggest people try this app if language is a challenge: http://translate.google.com/#
Please let me know if it helps.
Also, its been suggested we build a dictionary of equine terms as we know that translators don't always get these quite right. What do you think?
So great to get this information! I've been wondering how many countries and how many students we are. The idea of a dictionary is very useful, so many terms that are specific and it can be confusing if not translated accurate. My compliments to all this growing and getting better all the time. We hold a great tool in our hands!
That is just wonderful!
.
A dictionary would be really helpful, esp. when I'm writing a post and find myself at a loss for terms - that I know very well in my own language (Swedish) - either because I can't recall, or simply don't know them.
The translation programs are great in many ways, but sometimes they are just a hoot.
(If you're going multilingual with the dictionary, I'd be happy to help if I can.)
I just found an "Equine Multilingual Dictionary" as I was searching at Google!
wow Miriam ! Good work ! Can it be linked to the Uni? Here in Spain there is a growing interest but as it is all in english they are just not joining up :(
I would certainly be interested in having access to a dictionary of equine terms. Certain terminology is often discipline specific and having this information would eliminate confusion or mis-understanding.
